The Samsung Galaxy S4 release is around the corner. We are anticipating an amazing phone with a superb screen, nice design and processor that is faster than ever. Samsung is at the cutting edge of the smartphone market and we expect the new release to push the industry’s leading edge further ahead of Apple’s best efforts.
We have already seen some terrific smartphones come on to the market. For instance, the Huawei D2 has incredible specs. The Sony Xperia Z does likewise. It seems the next generation of smartphones are faster, stronger, more elegant; and frankly just better. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is going to be positioned firmly in this new class and will no doubt be right up the top.
Peter Misek predictions
Peter Misek is an analyst with Jefferies and Company. He has outlined what he thinks the Samsung Galaxy S4 is going to mean for the iPhone 6. He anticipates that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be produced in vast numbers, perhaps around 100 million devices. This is staggering in the context of 60 million Samsung Galaxy S3s having sold to date.
Misek reports that Apple is struggling with the manufacturing of their iPhone 6. He states that the iPhone 6 is going to be put back to 2014, potentially, and that they are going to release two phones this year, an updated Apple iPhone 5S and a budget iPhone.
Certainly, if Apple is struggling with the iPhone 6, this spells real danger for them. Samsung are moving forward apace. They have taken over the top slot in the world for volume of phone sales and they are look set to release a new fantastic Galaxy S4 that will hit the market with media glare.
Media attention for Samsung
Samsung are already heating up the advertising and marketing campaigns around the Galaxy S3. This has a double focus. It serves to sell off the stocks of their existing Galaxy S3s, but also builds momentum for the S4. The S4 will be an incredible device. There is no doubt about that. If the rumors are to be believed, then the iPhone 6 really is in trouble already.
Peter Mesik has made some really terrific predictions in the past. However, he has also got some wrong. Only time will tell whether Apple gets an iPhone 6 out this year or not and whether their reported manufacturing troubles really are going on.
An interesting time in the smartphone market
It certainly is an interesting time in the smartphone market. We have new market entrants coming through, particularly from China, and we have the old guard fighting for market share. With so much competition, innovation is rife. Speed of progress in the market is simply phenomenal and it spells one thing for consumers, better phones.
