Ever since its inception, Google’s Mobile Operating System is marketed as the mobile OS for business consumers. Google targeted users from every walk of life, from the business users of BlackBerry mobile solutions, to casual iPhone users and geeks who love Microsoft’s WinMo (Windows Mobile), who have all converted in their millions to this new OS. But there is one question that still remains. Can a small or large company, a firm or a reputation management company, use this mobile operating system in place of a sophisticated and trusted OS like Blackberry?
Compatibility with Businesses Existing Setup
Many firms want to keep their reputation when it comes to information and its management. To protect its reputation a firm rarely introduces a technology which is not compatible with its existing setup. Luckily, android OS is fully customizable and comes preloaded with many features, which makes it ideal for any organization.
Unlike large stream organizations like reputation agencies, small firms require business level OS which are easy to deploy and obtain. The android system comes preloaded with a Google services suit. This means that great services like Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive are available to them at little to no extra cost.
Ease of Use
We must admit that android is an OS made by geeks for geeks, and anyone who is new to the android smart phone market will have a hard time trying to figure out how to perform even mundane tasks. When I got my hands on my first android device it took a while to figure out how to send a simple text messages.
However, the new versions of Google are not only very easy to use but are also aesthetically beautiful.
Choice of Devices
The biggest drawback of Blackberry OS and iPhone OS is that the number and choice of devices compatible with each is very limited. There are only 6 iterations of iPhone and all have the same design and features, and this is the same story when it comes to Blackberry.
However, android is an open source system which means any company with the ability to produce a smart phone can make it, and this means the variety available to the user is amazing.
iPhone and Blackberry both are known as extremely expensive mobile devices, so for a small reputation management agency buying and deploying the same device for all of its employees can become very uneconomical. However the choice and range the android provides is the right and easy answer to that problem.
Bring Your Own Device
With its broad compatibility, extensive variety and impressive price range, the management can also ask its employees to bring their own mobile of choice to the firm. This way the firm will have to spend very few resources and can utilize all the benefits of company-wide mobile OS features.
Android may have not initially started out as an ideal mobile OS but it is certainly becoming the top contender for this title.
